Please be informed that the Continuing Professional Development Sub-Committee is organising a seminar on the recent Bankruptcy (Amendment) Act 2016. Once it comes into effect, the Bankruptcy Act 1967 will be referred as Insolvency Act 1967.
The seminar will be conducted by Mr. Khoo Kay Ping, a member of the Malaysian Bar and a Partner in the firm of Messrs Zaid Ibrahim & Co (Penang). He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1992 and practice in Johor Bahru from 1992 till 2002 before moving to Penang. His areas of expertise include debt recovery, general civil litigation and motor insurance litigation. He is the author of Khoo ’s Law and Practice of Bankruptcy in Malaysia (Lexis Nexis) and co-authored the Malaysian Chapter in Getting the Deal Through-Restructuring & Insolvency (Law Business Research Ltd, UK for 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions).
The speaker will discuss the impact of the amendments to the Act and affects the legal practice and litigation. The seminar will also cover the following:
