Mohd Yassin bin Ibrahim (1944 – 2012)

Mohamed Yassin bin Ibrahim (“Yassin”) aged 68 and a Barrister-at-Law of the Hon. Society of the Inner Temple London and a n Advocate & Solicitor of Malaysia passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Puteri Specialist Hospital Johor Bahru on the 6th of July 2012. The funeral took place at Tanah Perkuburan Bukit Aliff on the 6th itself.

Prior to embarking in a career in the laws Yassin joined the Royal Malaysian Police Force as a Probationary Inspector of Police in 1967. He served in various branches of the Police Force, mainly as an investigating officer and prosecuting officer.

His love for the mysteries and intricacies for the laws must have blossomed during this time of his life. Yassin left for the United Kingdom in 1974 after gaining admission to read law in the Inns of Court, London. He kept his dining terms and passed all Bar examinations and was called to the English Bar in 1977.

At the time of his passing away Yassin was the senior partner of the firm of Mohd Akhir and Partners but had his hand in a variety of fields prior to embarking in practice at the Bar after he was called to the Bar of Malaysia on 28-7-1980. Yassin in his times was a Deputy head of Commercial Crimes was a Deputy Public Prosecutor, Federal Counsel and Legal Advisor to the National Electricity Board (TNB). After his stint in the Attorney-General’s Chambers he commenced practice at the Bar.

The late lawyer was a quiet and an unassuming person who kept largely to himself and his close circle of family, friends and colleagues.

Yassin leaves behind his beloved wives Sharifah Anuralbalkis binti Syed Ali Wafa and Aishah binti Ahmad, 3 sons and a daughter.

Members of the Johore Bar offer their heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family friends and colleagues of the late Mohammed Yassin bin Ibrahim.
