Circular No. 96/2022: Announcement on Court Matters

Following the notice just received from the Court, members are informed as follows:

  1. Hearing of joint petitions for divorce

Commencing from 26.2.2023 the hearing of joint petitions for divorce will be conducted physically in open court. The hearings will take place on every Sunday alternating between Sessions Court Civil 1 (Tn Mohamad Haldar bin Abdul Aziz) and Sessions Court Criminal 3 (Pn Mabel Sheela A/P Victor Muttiah). The first open court hearings on 26.2.2023 will be before Sessions Court Civil 1. If there are circumstances that require a particular petition to be heard online, parties may write in to the relevant court in advance and request for an online hearing. The application will be considered subject to the court’s discretion.  

  • Distribution of 2020 accident claim cases.

Effective immediately, all B53KJ cases of 2020 will be distributed between the four Sessions Courts as shown in the schedule here in order to expedite the disposal of the cases. The cases will proceed as scheduled before their respective courts as shown in the schedule.

  • Yong Peng Magistrate’s Court

Following the completion of refurbishment works at the old premises, the Magistrate’s Court will resume operations in Yong Peng from 1.3.2023. Proceedings will be confined to criminal cases and departmental summons as before. Civil cases will continue to be heard at the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court.
