The Johore Bar Committee and the Selangor Bar Committee are once again coming together to jointly organise Practice Management Forum 2.0 on 19.2.2025 that will cover the following topics of discussion: (1) Business Development for Lawyers; (2) Cloud Storage: The Gateway Drug to Small Firm Tech Adoption & Digitalization and (3) Dialogue on Firm Management: Practical Tips.

Speakers
SARAVANAN KUMAR is the Headof the Firm’s Tax, SST & Customs, where he has appeared in benchmark litigations with a sizeable volume of wins in tax disputes. He is recognised as one of the leading lawyers by Asialaw Profiles and was named as one of the 40 leading lawyers under 40 in Asia by Asian Legal Business in 2018. He was also named as one of the 100 leading lawyers in Malaysia by Asia Business Law Journal in 2022.
He chairs the Taxation & Customs Committee of LAWASIA and also serves as a Trustee of the Malaysian Tax Research Foundation, which is an independent body dedicated for the promotion, encouragement and advancement of tax research in Malaysia.
Saravana was also formerly an Adjunct Professor with Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) for nearly 10 years. He is also a member of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee since 2019 where he presently co-chairs the Civil Practice & Court Liaison Committee and the Professional Development Committee. Additionally, he also sits on the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board since 2017.
M K THAS was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2000. He is a Senior Partner in his firm Messrs. Azlan M K Thas & Co. based in Bandar Baru Klang, Selangor.
With 25 years experience as a criminal and civil law practitioner, M K Thas has handled a wide range of matters.
M K Thas has been serving as the Chairman of the Selangor Bar Committee since 2023 to date. He was also the Selangor Bar Representative in the 2022/23 term. M K Thas also served as the Criminal Practice & Court Liaison Sub-Committee of the Selangor Bar for 13 years from 2008 until 2020 and 2021 until 2022.
Aside from his achievements as a litigator, M K Thas has made waves in his tenure as Selangor Bar Chairman including organising the inaugural Selangor Bar Law Conference and inaugural Selangor Bar Employment Law Conference, SBC-ALA Joint Symposium among many others.
He has been instrumental in fostering new relationships as well as strengthening existing ones.
FADHIL IHSAN is a technology enthusiast with a firm belief that every small law firm should adopt technology. He advocates that small firms can significantly reduce overhead costs and enhance the delivery of legal services through the adoption of tech. Fadhil is passionate about making technology accessible and beneficial to all, regardless of firm size or resources.
Fadhil practices under the name and style of Azwad Ihsan & Co, a small law firm based in Johor Bahru.
Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Johore Bar, as well as the Co-Chair of the Legal Tech, AI, and Sandbox Committee, and the Cyber and Privacy Laws Committee.
Fadhil is also an active speaker, frequently conducting talks and seminars on technology and legal tech.
R. JAYABALAN graduated with Bachelor of Law (LLB Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 1996 and obtained his post-graduate Master in Business Administration (MBA) from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2004.
Jaya was called to the Bar in April 1997. He has been in active practice since then based in Johor Bahru and conducting litigation in various courts. He is the principal of his own firm Messrs R. Jayabalan.
His main area of practice is litigation and dispute resolution. He is an active litigator at trial and appellate level. He regularly appears at all levels of courts from Magistrates Court, Sessions Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court. He also conducts litigation at the Industrial Court and arbitration.
Jaya’s main area of practice is professional negligence, industrial relations and employment law, general tort, contract/commercial law, insurance and banking law, land and strata laws and administrative law amongst others. He also actively writes and speaks on various issues of law and procedure and on issues concerning legal practice in the country.
Jaya is a member of the Bar Council. He has served as Chairman of the Johore Bar and is currently the Bar Rep and Treasurer of the Malaysian Bar. He chairs the Finance Committee and is the Deputy Chair of the Risk Management Committee of the Bar Council.
YU AI TING was admitted as a member of the Malaysian Bar in 1998. She is currently a Partner in Messrs. Y. S. Lim & Ng based in Puchong primarily handling civil litigation matters and conveyancing.
Besides her day-to-day legal practice, Ai Ting is an active member of the Selangor Bar Committee where she has been serving as the Honorary Secretary from 2023 to date. Ai Ting has also been serving as the Co-Chair of the Civil Practice & Court Liaison Sub-Committee of the Selangor Bar for terms 2014/2015 and 2020/2021 or 4 years. Also served in Conveyancing Sub committee from 2014 to date.
She is well-known for her work in bridging the relationship between the Bench and Bar in Selangor especially. Her 27 years in legal practice and 23 years in managing her firm make her experience valuable for this forum.
ONG KIT WEE @ RON graduated from University Kebangsaan Malaysia. He obtained his Law degree and commenced practice in 2013. Ron underwent his pupillage-inchamber under the guidance of Mr Gooi Soon Seng of Messrs Gooi & Azura where he was exposed to both conveyancing and litigation profiles.
Ultimately, Ron’s legal framework is highly focused on Conveyancing and set up his firm, then known as Messrs Ron Ong & Associates in 2013 and merged with Kuek’s firm, Messrs Kuek & Associates in 2015 thud known as Messrs Kuek, Ong & Associates as it is now.
Apart from being a Certified Trainer and Speaker himself, whereby he coaches in talks and seminars organized by the Firm or as an invitee speaker, Ron has coached in front of 100 numbers up to date. Learning is a two-way process, so Ron also enjoys being a student himself as he is a regular face in talks and seminars organized by the Bar Council and Private Institutions to broaden his knowledge and then he will conduct internal training within the offices to ensure that everyone is in line and up to par with the Firm’s strict standards.
As a result, Ron is constantly featured in a lot of interviews and Property columns in numerous Country newspapers such as Sin Chew, New Straits Time and Property Investment and Expo in Malaysia.
