We refer to our Circular No. 47/2023. The Johore Bar will be hosting the annual Malaysia -Singapore Bench and Bar Games 2023 from 31 Aug to 2 Sept 2023. This is the 51st edition of the Games and will be conducted after an absence of 3 years due to Covid19. This is also the first time that Johore Bar will be hosting the Games. The Chief Justice of Malaysia, Y.A.A Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat will lead the Malaysian contingent whereas The Honourable Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon will lead the Singaporean contingent.
A total of 20 games (competitive and non-competitive) will be played at various venues around Johor Bahru. An estimated 500 participants and supporters from Malaysia and Singapore are expected to converge in Johor Bahru. This will provide a good opportunity for members to socialize and establish networking with fellow lawyers in Malaysia and Singapore.
Following the conclusion of the sporting events, an Official Closing Ceremony and Dinner will take place on 2 Sept 2023. The guest of honour at the Dinner is the Chief Justice of Malaysia, Y.A.A Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat. The dinner will also be attended by other members of the judiciary from Singapore and Malaysia, along with participants and members of the Bar from both nations.
The evening will be hosted with entertainment by the multi-talented artiste RK FARID who has been ‘rocking’ the stage for over 3 decades with his cool, calm and confident self. There will also be performances by a three-piece live band “D’AMORE MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.” Along with this will be performance by the contingent members from both countries. In the midst of the entertainment, a sumptuous Chinese 8-course dinner will be served including for vegetarians (prior notification required). The particulars of the dinner:
