The Johore Bar Building, House, Library and Member’s Welfare Sub – Committee are organising the above webinar. We will be inviting five esteemed speakers to share valuable tips on starting up practice at the webinar.

About the Speakers

R JAYABALAN graduated with L.L.B (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 1996. He was called to the Bar on 30th April 1997. He also obtained his MBA from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2005. He is an active litigator and his area of practice is general civil litigation. Over the years, he has conducted cases, trials and appeals at all levels of courts in Malaysia and on various areas of law. He has also conducted talks and briefings on various issues of law and practice at the Bar. He is currently the Chairman of Johore Bar for term 2022/2023.

HERON KHALID GOH read law at the University of Wolverhampton, UK and obtained his Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Hull, UK. Heron is also an Associate member of the Singapore Institution of Arbitrators (“SIArb”). He has been involved in tax compliance, advisory, audit, management and planning for more than 26 years in various industries including manufacturing, trading, construction, plantation, communication services, charitable societies and public transportation. He actively gives talks to Members of the Malaysian Bar on tax and accounting matters and has served as an adviser to several public – listed companies.  

RALPH RAVIN RATNASWAMY is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (“ICAEW”), with a Bachelor of Business degree from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. He is an approved Koperasi Auditor. He is a licensed liquidator under the Ministry of Finance and an approved liquidator under the Labuan Financial Services Authority. He holds a practising certificate with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and has been involved in the areas of goods and services tax (“GST”) and tax advisory, due diligence and forensic investigations. He is also a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, and a Committee Member of the ICAEW Members Society in Malaysia and the Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce.

YANG PEI KENG (P K YANG) is a well known senior member of the Johore Bar; has been practising as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia since 1970. He has vast experience in the area of conveyancing practice and actively gives talks for Johore Bar events and write – ups on conveyancing matters among others. He is currently a Consultant at The Chambers of Teo Say Eng, Johor Bahru.

NEO HEE KWANG (GEORGE NEO) graduated from the University of Wales, College of Aberystwyth in 1992 and obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice in 1993. He excelled in his studies and was awarded Calcott Pryce Prize by University of Wales. He was later called to the Bar in 1994. He commenced practice as an advocate and solicitor in 1995 with M/s Yeo, Tan, Hoon & Tee and was made a partner in 2002. George Neo mainly does litigation and his areas of practice includes company law, contract law, land acquisition, tort and insurance cases. He also acts for the Malaysian Bar Professional Indemnity Scheme to defend suits filed against legal practitioners in Malaysia and has appeared as counsel in the Federal Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, Sessions Court and Magistrate Court and many of his cases are reported in the law journals. He is also a regular speaker to the Johore Bar.

Once you provide the Secretariat with the above details and the proof of payment, you will receive an email with the registration link for the Webinar. Participants will also receive slides (if any – with the permission of the speaker) subsequent to the Webinar by way of email.

CPD points will be given upon completion of the whole session to participants who have attended until the end of the event based on the online report of ‘logged-in’ duration.
