In conjunction with the MyBar Care Roadshow by Bar Council MyBar Care Committee in Johore, the Shariah Sub-committee of the Johore Bar Committee is pleased to invite you to a seminar on Estate Management and Succession of Law Firms. This seminar aims to provide valuable insights into the civil law and the shariah requirements for managing and planning the succession of law firms, particularly for Muslim practitioners.
This session will cover the following topics:-
- Understanding the importance of estate management and the administration of inheritance for a law firm;
- Planning for the estate for a law firm and preparations in the event of death of a firm’s owner or one of its partners;
- What will happen when a sole proprietor of a firm’s partner passes away?;
- Can the heirs of a deceased partner claim the proceeds of the firm?; and
- Appointing the appropriate executor or administrator or trustee for the firm.

About the Speaker
MURSHIDAH MUSTAFA was called to the Bar in 1996 and currently practising at Messrs Rizal & Hafiz. She is also a qualified Syariah Counsel for the Kedah State. She is currently the Secretary of Malaysian Bar while holding the posts as the Chairperson for Bar Council MyBar Care Committee and the Deputy Chairperson of Bar Council Mediation Committee for the terms 2024/2025. Previously, she served as a Treasurer of the Malaysian Bar for the terms 2021/2022, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. She has a long record of service with the Bar Council as she served as a representative of the Kedah State Bar Committee to the Bar Council for the terms 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. She has also served as Co-chairman of the Professional Skills Development Committee of the Bar Council and as the Deputy Co-chairman (2019 to 2020) and Deputy Chairman (2018 to 2019) for the Bar Council Professional Skills Development Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Bar Council Mediation Committee (2019 to 2020), Deputy Chairman for the Legal Practitioner Care and Welfare Committee of the Bar Council (2019 to 2020) and Deputy Chairman of the Small Firms Committee of the Bar Council (2019 to 2020).
