From Trial to Appeal: Practical Advocacy in Section 14 SOACA Cases
Dear Members of the Bar,
Defending an accused under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) presents significant challenges for young litigators, given the relaxed evidentiary rules, emotive testimonies and substantial societal stigma involved.
To assist in navigating these complexities, the Johore Bar Young Lawyers & Pupils Sub Committee, in collaboration with the Outreach, Charity & Women Empowerment Sub Committee, is hosting a practical sharing for young lawyers on trial preparation, courtroom advocacy and appeal strategy.
This session will move beyond theoretical frameworks to address the practical realities, tactical maneuvers and key strategies involved in defending a SOACA case from the initial mention through to the final appeal. Hence, come and join us!
