Please be informed that the Johore Bar Human Rights Sub Committee is organising a Workshop entitled “Eliminating Deaths in Custody.”
The Workshop aims to provide an understanding of death and/or abuses in custody and the need for their elimination. We are hopeful that this workshop encourages the participants to embrace the cause in promoting and advocating the elimination of death and/or abuses in custody.
The workshop structure is as follows:-

About the Speakers
Mr. M VISVANATHAN (Advocate & Solicitor, Chairman EDICT)
Visvanathan is an advocate and solicitors with the Malaysian Bar. He was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 1996. He has worked extensively in matters involving deaths in police custody, police shootings and police ill-treatment.
Mr. YOHENDRA NADARAJAN (Advocate & Solicitor, Director EDICT)
Yohendra is an advocate and solicitors with the Malaysian Bar. He was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 2009. Yohendra is currently the Co-Chair of the Bar Council Human Rights Committee.
Cik FARIDA BINTI MOHAMMAD (Advocate & Solicitor, Director EDICT)
Farida is an advocate and solicitors with the Malaysian Bar and was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 2008. Farida has been a member of the Bar Council Human Rights Committee and also a member of SUARAM advisory board since 2019. Farida has been actively involved with civil society organizations in providing legal assistance and with campaigns in relation to human rights matters.
Mr. V. Sanjay Nathan (Advocate & Solicitor, member EDICT)
Sanjay is an advocate and solicitor with the Malaysian Bar. He was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 2020. Since then he has appeared as co-counsel in trials and appeals in civil liability claims involving deaths in custody.
