About the Speaker
Tuan Haji Mukhtar Bin Abdullah graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the International Islamic University Malaya (“IIUM”) in 1991, and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor in the High Court of Malaya in 1992.Prior to practising, he served the Terengganu State Economic Development Corporation as an Executive Officer (1980 to 1992) and then as a Legal Officer (1992 to 1996). He left his position on 10 Aug 1996, and joined Messrs Zamani Mohammad & Co as a legal assistant, and was subsequently admitted as a partner in 2002. He is also a licensed Syarie counsel in Terengganu and has 20 years of experience, in both civil and Syariah matters. He is a returning member of the Terengganu Bar Committee and formerly the Terengganu Bar Representative on the Bar Council (2009 to 2013). During his tenure as a member of the Bar Council, he was appointed as the Co-Chairperson of the Bar Council Jawatankuasa Bahasa Melayu and the Bar Council LawCare Committee. He was a lecturer at the Law Faculty of University Sultan Zainal Abidin (formerly known as KUSZA) from 1991 to 2002. He used to give talks to various NGOs and the Bar Council under the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Camps to the lawyers under the state bar. The talks were on women rights (under the Islamic Family Law) and on management of property through hibah, harta sepencarian and wasiat and also faraid. So far, he has written and published 6 books on Syariah matters as reference for the legal profession and the public.
1 CPD point will be given upon completion of the whole session to participants who have attended until the end of the event and filled up the Attendance Form successfully.
