The Shariah Committee is organizing a seminar on relating Hibah Takaful with aims to shed light on the concept of Hibah Takaful from both civil law and shariah perspectives and to address the practical challenges surrounding its implementation. The seminar is open to all lawyers, syarie counsels, pupils in-chambers, takaful practitioners and those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of this important topic.
This session will cover the following topics:-
- Introduction to Hibah & Takaful
- Legal Framework in Malaysia with reference toIslamic Financial Services Act (IFSA) 2013, Wills Act 1959 (for non-Muslims) and syariah law principles under the State Enactments
- Hibah Takaful from a Syariah Perspective; is takaful nomination considered hibah or amanah?
- Practical Application & Common Dispute; role of Syariah Courts and Civil Courts in resolving hibah/takaful matters
- Planning Tools: Nomination, Hibah Deeds & Trusts

About the Speaker
HAJI MUKHTAR B ABDULLAH is an advocate & solicitor, syarie counsel and a partner at Messrs. Zamani Mohammad & Co. He holds an LLB from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) which he obtained in 1991.
He is frequently invited as a speaker for seminar series organised by the Bar Council and various State Bar Committees under the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme. In addition, he has also been invited to deliver talks to non-governmental organisations across Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, particularly on issues related to women’s rights under Islamic family law, estate planning through hibah, matrimonial property, wills, and post-death estate administration.
Furthermore, he has 28 years of experience in both Civil and Syariah and is a former Chairman of the Terengganu Syariah Lawyers Association (PPST).
