Our Circular No. 26/2023 on the above matter refers. The Committee had a meeting with PTG on 7.6.2023. At the meeting the Committee had again expressed our objections to the cessation of the use of cheques from law firms for payment and for PTG to reconsider the matter. The Committee was informed that the decision on the mode of payment was made by the State Government and PTG have to comply with the same.

In the meeting the Committee was also informed that, apart from cash, bank draft and/or credit card, the PTG would introduce another mode of payment effective on 11.6.2023 that is online payment by way of EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) via the following account:

Please be informed that the online payment system will be on a trial basis from 11.6.2023-18.6.2023. Members are encouraged to use the online payment system during this period to enable PTG and the Committee to assess the effectiveness of the system and for its further improvement.

Please be reminded that the EFT payment system is exclusively for the use of legal firms via the firms’ office and clients account. No member of public is allowed to use the EFT payment system. Individual accounts are also not permitted to be used for the transactions under the EFT payment system.

Members may make the EFT payment for any dealing or transaction at any time before the presentation for registration of the file. However once payment is made successfully, such file MUST be registered at PTG in the same month the payment is made. For example: If the payment is made on 8.6.2023 the registration of the file must be done before 30.6.2023.

Further, a combination of mode of payments can be used in the event that there is a shortfall in the amount transmitted via EFT payment. Excess payment for any transaction will be refunded at the Refund Counter at PTG. Please take note that there will be no refund if the presentation is rejected by PTG.

Members are also not required to produce the payment slip at the counters when they do the presentation for registration of the files. It is sufficient for the legal firms’ representative to screenshot the payment receipt and show it to the counter’s staff or email it to pendaftaran.ptg@johor.gov.my

We will update members on further development of the matter in due course.

Thank you.
