The Malaysian Bar will convene a physical EGM on Wednesday, 10th May 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Dewan San Choon, Level 2, Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. The Bar Council Circular No. 124/2023 dated 27 Apr 2023 on the EGM can be seen here.
The EGM is pursuant to a requisition by 173 Members of the Malaysian Bar under sec 65(2) of the Legal Profession Act 1976. The Agenda of the EGM is to consider the “Motion on the Independence of the Judiciary and Upholding the Rule of Law.” as provided in the requisition.
Transport for members attending the EGM
The Committee has made arrangements for a deluxe coach to ferry members’ who are keen to attend the EGM to Kuala Lumpur and back free of charge, provided that there is a minimum of 20 members registering for the trip.
The coach is expected to leave for Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, 10th May 2023, at 10:00 a.m. from the Johore Bar Secretariat and will depart for Johor Bahru immediately after the conclusion of the EGM.
Members who are interested to attend the EGM are requested to sign up early with the Johore Bar Secretariat at 07-276 3888, preferably by 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 9th May 2023.
