This seminar will encompass the following areas:
- An overview of the disciplinary process for Advocates & Solicitors in Malaysia;
- Professional misconduct of Advocates & Solicitors;
- Common or frequent cases of misconduct;
- Four corners of the complaint;
- The burden and standard of proof;
- Right to legal representation;
- Penalties provided for misconduct under the Legal Profession Act 1976;
- Restitution;
- The role of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board (“ASDB”);
- The role and function of the Disciplinary Committee (“DC”);
- Notice to Appear (“NTA”) before the ASDB;
- Appellate powers of the Courts.

About the Speaker
S. GUNASEGARAN was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 1984 and has remained an active practitioner ever since. Currently holding the position of a partner at Messrs Guna & Chandrika, he is one of the senior members of the Bar. Furthermore, S. Gunasegaran served as the Chairman of the Johore Bar from 2002 to 2003, 2011 to 2014, and 2016 to 2018. His contributions also extend to his role as a Member of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board from 2019 to 2023.
