Circular No. 102/2023: Criminal Law Lecture & LUNCH in Appreciation of YBGK Volunteers

The Continuing Professional Development Sub-Committee and the Legal Aid Sub-Committee are jointly organizing this talk and a lunch in appreciation of the YBGK Volunteers serving in the Johore Bar.

Topics to be covered in the Lecture is as follows:-

  1. Legality of Proceedings against Minors in the Absence of Advisors

This topic will be discussed in light of the recent Johor Bahru High Court decision in two rape cases against minors

  1. Legality of Remand Orders against an Unconscious Detainee / Suspect
  2. AMLA; Application of Section 56 (1) & (2) of the Act, and the Responsibilities of the Prosecution & Trial Judge

This topic will be discussed with reference to the case of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor

About the Speakers

HAJI ROSLi bin kamaruddin is an active litigator and specializes in Criminal Litigation. He has been in practice for 26 years and has experience at all levels of Courts in Malaysia. He currently practices at Messrs Rosli Kamaruddin & Co.

ISKANDAR SHAH BIN IBRAHIM is the sole proprietor of Messrs Iskandar Shah & Co. From 1994 – 2000, he served as Deputy Public Prosecutor / Federal Counsel at the Johor State Legal Adviser’s Office. From 2000 – 2003, he served as Head of the Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Property Holders Department of the Prime Minister’s Department. From 2003 – 2009, he served as a Legal Officer / PUU of the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department – Public Private Partnership Unit (UKAS). From 2009 – 2011 he served as the Director of Legal Services of the Malaysian Companies Commission. From 2011 – 2012 he served as a Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Perak State Legal Adviser’s Office. From 2012 – 2014, he served as a Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Selangor State Legal Adviser’s Office.
