Foo Sam Ming (12/09/1943 – 19/03/2002)

The late Mr Foo Sam Ming was born on 12th September 1943 in Lunas, Kedah. He was an officer in His Majesty’s Police Force before proceeding to read law in Lincoln’s Inn in London and was called to the English Bar in 1967.

On 18th July 1968 he was admitted and enrolled as a member of the Bar States of Malaya and practised as a Legal Assistant in the firm of K.C. Koh & Co before taking over the practice of Murugason & Co. a Singapore firm then in Johor Bahru. The firm was renamed Foo Sam Ming & Co and later Foo & Menon.

When Mr Woon See Chin joined the late Mr Foo the firm was renamed Foo & Woon. Mr Foo though a Barrister was in active practice at the Bar only for a few short years. He ventured into the more lucrative corporate sector. In 1972 he was Director of Faber Merlin Ltd., Hong Kong Merlin Hotels and Company Secretary and Director of Faber Merlin Group Asia.

The last decade or so saw Mr Foo in business in England and Australia.
