The Johore Bar Committee is organizing a 3D 2N trip to Miri, Sarawak.
The Committee has made arrangements with the Advocates’ Association of Sarawak for members to make a study trip to the Miri Courts, with the aim of providing Johore Bar members with an insight of the enhanced courts system in Sarawak i.e Case Management System (CMS), Video Conferencing System (VCS), and the Community and Advocate Portal System (CAP), etc. Apart from the study trip, members can also look forward to visiting various points of interest.

The tentative itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 (12th November 2019)
Senai Airport, Johor Bahru – Miri
Upon arrival at Miri Airport, transfer to local restaurant for dinner before transfer to hotel for check in.
Day 2 (13th November 2019)
Breakfast at Hotel.
Proceed to Niah National Park, register and have a brief study of the park information at the information center. A short boat ride to cross the river to visit the Interpretation Centre. Next, proceed on 3KM plank walk for about 45 minutes to Iban Longhouse for Ethnic lunch. Traditional welcoming dance will be performed to welcome the guests and everyone is welcome to join their dance. Ibans are the single largest tribe in Sarawak and they traditionally live in longhouses, which are actually a number of rooms linked together but sharing a common ‘ruai’ – a verandah were traditional ceremonies are performed in the olden days. The Ibans are the famed headhunters of Borneo and in some older longhouses, some of the skulls are still seen hanging along the ruai.
After lunch, proceed to the Traders Cave and The Great Cave – Niah Cave is famous for its edible bird’s nest found high-up in the cave about 300ft from the ground. You will have a chance to see the birds nest collector harvest the nest if in season. Proceed return journey on the same plank walk to Niah National Park HQ. Next proceed to Tusan Beach which is famous for the white and clean sandy beach with a gentle slope and fascinating South China Sea and sunset view. Among the attraction in Tusan Beach is the rock formation which resembles that of a horse drinking water. After Tusan beach transfer to dinner at local restaurant before back to hotel, free at own leisure and overnight.
Day 3 (14th November 2019)
Breakfast at Hotel.
Pick up and transfer to Miri High Court for official visit. After function, transfer back to accommodation for checking out. After checking out, proceed for Miri City Tour with visit to Malaysia 1st Oil Well – The Grand Old Lady located at Canada Hill. Petroleum Museum Miri – with various exhibits displayed that show us the history of the petroleum industry in Sarawak. The Tua Pek Kong Temple, which is dedicated to the deity most beloved by overseas Chinese. According to local legend, work started in the temple in 1913, in order to give thanks to the deity for helping to end a mysterious epidemic. Handicraft Heritage Centre – all sort of unique and handmade art craft, handicrafts, T-shirts, bead work and many more. Tamu Khas – the native market, where variety of stalls are selling various tropical fruits and vegetables. Among the favourites are Ikan Terubok Masin, Bario rice & salt. Coco Cabana – The latest landmark of Miri which housed the 25 meters high seahorse statue. Besides that, you can find variety of local food stalls (only open from late afternoon). Enjoy the local food while having a magnificent view of South China Sea there can be a very good experience. After tour, transfer to Miri Airport for flight departure.
