Circular No. 53/13: Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan Training (“YBGK”) Training (26 – 27 Oct 2013)

The Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan (“YBGK”) was launched by the Prime Minister on 25th February 2011 and commenced operations on 2nd April 2012. YBGK is a comprehensive scheme that funds lawyers to do legal aid work in criminal matters.


A two-day training session has been organized to guide and assist our members who are participating in the said scheme, particulars whereof are as follows:

Date : 26th and 27th October 2013 (Saturday and Sunday)

Time : 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Venue : Johore Bar Auditorium (Level 1)

Kindly take note that lawyers who intend to attend Part Three should have already attended Parts One and Two of the YBGK training.

Part Three : CPD Code T7/27102013/YBGK/JB/4245/7 (7 CPD Points)

Please take note that this programme is sponsored by YBGK and all lawyers who attend YBGK training are required to do a minimum amount of YBGK work after the training.  Members can either attend two days of arrest interviews, or two days of remand hearings, or handle a YBGK criminal file within three months from the date of the training.

We encourage all lawyers who would like to do YBGK work to attend these training sessions. It is not too late for members who have not signed up to date to do so now, in which you are required to fill up the enclosed registration form and fax it to Cik Hudha at Legal Aid Centre at 07-2269024 or to the Johore Bar Secretariat at 07-2761188 not later than 23rd October 2013.

Points for the Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) Scheme will not be awarded to any Members of the Bar who arrives more than 15 minutes late or is not present throughout the event, or leaves before the end of the session.
