The Johore Bar North Johor Affairs Sub Committee is organising the abovementioned seminar in Muar, Johor.
Written advocacy forms an integral part of court work, often replacing or supplementing oral advocacy for hearings and after trial submissions. It is therefore of paramount importance that your written work submitted to court is effective and persuasive.
The speakers, Brendan Siva and David Mathews will speak on how to approach written work, the general principles of effective written advocacy and the visual and substantive presentation of evidence and arguments.

About the Speakers
Mr. Brendan Navin Siva is a B Ec / LLB graduate of the University of Sydney and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1999. Brendan was Chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee 2010/2012. He has been and advocacy trainer since 2010 and has conducted advocacy training throughout Malaysia and in Hong Kong, South Africa, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland and Singapore. Brendan is the Chairman of the International Advocacy Training Council
Brendan was the first Malaysian to be invited by the General Council of the Bar of South Africa to join their international faculty of advocacy trainers for the Advanced Advocacy Training Course at the Wallenberg Centre, Stellenbosch in January 2014. He was also the first Malaysian to be invited by the South Eastern Circuit Bar Mess Foundation to join their international faculty of advocacy trainers for the Advanced International Advocacy Course at Keble College, Oxford in August 2014.
Mr. David Mathews was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1995 and pracices mainly in civil and commercial litigation. He is a partner in Messrs. Mathews Hun Lachimanan. He has been an advocacy trainer since 2015 and has conducted advocacy training in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
