Circular No. 35/19: Seminar on Preparing For A Court of Appeal Hearing (16 July 2019)

Please be informed that the Continuing Professional Development Sub-Committee is organizing a Seminar entitled Preparing For a Court of Appeal hearing.

Mr G K Ganesan, renowned for his appearances at the Appellate Courts as Counsel will share his tips and techniques to get you closer to succeeding at your appeal. He will share his vast array of experience, point out methods that work and highlight those that do not.

He will take you through issues such as (but not limited to):-

  • Identifying questions of law
  • Using pivotal passages of case law
  • Best usage of time

If you have ever had a sleepless night prior to your appearance at the Court of Appeal, wondering of the best way to present your case, or even your chances of success, then this Seminar is for you.

About the Speaker

MR. GK GANESAN concentrates on corporate, civil and arbitration matters. For some years now, he has taken on the role of litigation counsel, and has a propensity for corporate matters. Most of his litigation matters are at the High Court and Court of Appeal.

He is an international commercial arbitrator, and a panel arbitrator of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. He is also a fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitration and a member of the London Court of International Arbitration.

On a scholastic level, he is an author-contributor to Malaysian Court Form, Bankruptcy and Insolvency, Volume Two, as well as Malaysian Court Practice (commonly known as the “Red Books”). In 2001, he authored Bankruptcy Law in Malaysia and Singapore: A Sourcebook of Principles, Practice and Procedure, which is his second work in bankruptcy law.
