This Webinar will provide an overview of restructuring options under the Scheme of Arrangement, Corporate Voluntary Arrangement, and Judicial Management. The speakers will also discuss some key financial concepts that are important to restructuring. The session will also highlight recent legal cases that relate to restructuring.

About the Speakers
Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman holds an LL.B(Hons) and is an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. In dispute resolution he covers arbitration, administrative law, constitutional law, contractual dispute, insolvency, debt and corporate restructuring and shareholders’ dispute. He is also familiar with the Labuan offshore jurisdiction. Some of the restructuring cases he has been involved have been reported including PECD Bhd v Merino-ODD Sdn Bhd [2009] 3 MLJ 362. Abdullah also holds the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), a post-graduate Islamic Finance university under the auspices of the Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM).
Jimmy Ng Chwe Hwa is an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and a Partner of Chooi & Company + Cheang & Ariff (“CCA); his key practice areas being restructuring and insolvency. Prior to his joining CCA, he was with KPMG Malaysia for over 20 years focusing on restructuring and insolvency work. He retired as a partner of KPMG Singapore and Indonesia in 2017. Jimmy was appointed to the board of Lonpac Insurance Sdn Bhd in 2019 and currently serves on its committees. He contributed to the book Law and Practice of Corporate Insolvency in Malaysia, published by Sweet & Maxwell in 2019. Jimmy graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the US in 1983, and a law degree from the UK in 1998. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant graduate from the UK and a chartered member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”).

CPD points will be given upon completion of the whole session to participants who have attended until the end of the event based on the online report of ‘logged-in’ duration.
