Johore Bar Committee

Circular No. 52/2021: YLCare

The Johore Bar Committee is pleased to inform that the Young Lawyers and Chambering Pupils Sub-Committee has decided to launch a new initiative, YLCare which aims to improve the welfare of the young lawyers and chambering pupils of the Johore Bar by providing an avenue to channel any serious complaints regarding their respective workplace and also help address any questions or difficulties faced by them.

The main goal of this initiative is to try our utmost best to eliminate unfair practices that may cause excessive difficulties to be faced by young lawyers and chambering pupils. We also hope that this initiative encourages law firms to provide a healthy environment for young lawyers and chambering pupils to flourish in this profession.

Any aggrieved young lawyers and chambering pupils can voice out their concerns by sending an email to YLCare@johorebar.org.my

Examples of such concerns may include but are not limited to:

  1. Sexual harassment at the workplace or any place related in the carrying out of their duties;
  2. Employers breaching the ‘Movement Control Order’ or lockdown rules by forcing young lawyers and chambering pupils to be present in the office;
  3. Confusion and/or issues pertaining to the procedural requirements relating to the admission to the bar;
  4. Any other related circumstances that cause difficulties to the young lawyers and chambering pupils of the Johore Bar.

Thank you.
