The Malaysian Bar will convene a physical Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday, 26 July 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at MATRADE Hall, 3rd Floor, Menara MATRADE, Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Kuala Lumpur. The Bar Council’s Circular No. 265/2025 dated 22 July 2025 on the EGM may be accessed here.
The agenda for the EGM is as follows:
(1) To consider the following motions proposed in accordance with section 65(5) of the Legal Profession Act 1976 (“LPA”):
(1.1) “Motion for Judicial Independence”, proposed by Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab (Chairman, Bar Council), on behalf of the Bar Council, dated 18 July 2025;
(1.2) “Motion to Implement a Fair Rate of Minimum Remuneration for Pupils”, proposed by Goh Cia Yee and Tan Hoo Seh, dated 17 July 2025; and
(1.3) “Motion to Hold the Prime Minister Accountable for Having Allowed for the Undermining of Public Confidence in the Judiciary”, proposed by Malik Imtiaz Sarwar and Surendra Ananth, dated 18 July 2025; and
(2) Any other matters.

Transport for Members to the EGM
The Johore Bar Committee is making arrangements for a deluxe coach to ferry members to Kuala Lumpur and back free of charge, provided there is a minimum of 20 members registering for the trip.
The coach is expected to depart Johore Bar Secretariat at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, 26 July 2025, and will depart for Johor Bahru immediately after the conclusion of the EGM.
