The Shariah Sub-Committee invites all members of the Johore Bar to a talk and networking lunch aimed at fostering collaboration and professional relationships between civil and shariah practitioners.
This event offers a platform for both practitioners, promoting partnerships that facilitate each others expertise across both jurisdictions. An invitation has also been extended to Persatuan Peguam Syarie Malaysia Negeri Johor to enrich the networking opportunities and discussions.
Why Attend?
This session is not only an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Muslim estate administration but also to build connections between the practitioners. The scope of work of a civil practitioner may extend to requiring substantive or ancillary orders from the Syariah Court not only when dealing with Muslim estates. It is hoped that this event bridging the gap between jurisdictions to deliver holistic solutions.
Talk of the Day:
The discussion will focus on “The Significance of Shariah in Letters of Administration Proceedings” and will cover:
- Legislation and procedures for obtaining a Letter of Administration at the High Court of Malaya;
- The significance of the Faraid Certificate in administering the estate of a Muslim deceased;
- Practical approaches to the distribution of property with and without a Faraid Certificate; and
- Q&A session.

About the Speaker for the seminar:-
AHMAD TERMIZI ABDULLAH was called to the Bar in 2005 and currently practising at Messrs Termizi & Co., Kuala Lumpur as an Advocate & Solicitor and as a Syarie Counsel. He graduated from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) with LLB Hons and now specializing in area of the Islamic Law of Inheritance. He is currently a Committee Member of Jawatankuasa Teknikal Undang-undang Harta Pesaka (Faraid) and Jawatankuasa Teknikal Undang-undang Hibah under the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Selangor (MAIS). He also has written many books and articles relating to Faraid, Wasiat, Waqf and Hibah. In addition, he has conducted various talks on Syariah Law and its relevance conveyancing practice.
