Members are to be advised as follows:
- We have been informed by the Court that effective from 21.1.2024, Joint Petitions for Divorce (‘JPs’) will be heard by four Sessions Courts on daily basis in order to expedite the hearing of JPs and to clear the existing backlog of JPs at the Johor Bahru Courts. Following this the re-distribution of the JPs for hearing effective immediately would be as follows.

2. Following the new distribution, JP cases that were previously fixed before Sessions Judge Dato’ Che Wan Zaidi bin Che Wan Ibrahim and Sessions Judge Puan Siti Noraida binti Sulaiman will be rescheduled in accordance with the new distribution as above. The new dates for such cases will be emailed to the lawyers accordingly by the Court.
3. The hearing of the JPs will be conducted physically in Open Court and proceedings will commence at 9.00 a.m. Members are advised to be punctual and to ensure the parties’ attendance in Court on time.
4. Members are also reminded to comply with the dress code for lawyers for Court attendance as stated in the Bar Council Circular No. 267/2019. Members are further reminded to advice their clients to dress appropriately for Court attendance in accordance with the notice by the Chief Registrar’s Office as may be seen here.
