Circular No. 42/16: Seminar on ‘TPPA:Pertinent Provisions, Impacts And Challenges (19 Oct 2016)

The Continuing Professional Development Sub-Committee jointly with the Syariah Sub-Committee of the Johore Bar is organizing a Seminar on The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA): Pertinent Provisions, Impacts and Challenges.’

The seminar will deal with:

  • What is TPPA?
  • Who are the signatories to TPPA?
  • Concept of Free Trade and Free Trade Agreement
  • Concept of ‘Most Favored Nation’
  • Concept of ‘National Treatment’
  • Impact on Constitution of Malaysia
  • Impact on Financial Services, SMEs, Education, etc
  • Impact on Legal Practice
  • Forum to Resolve Disputes
  • Effects on Countries that breached TPPA provisions

About the Speaker:
FAKIHAH AZAHARI is a partner at Messrs Nik Hisham, Fakihah & Co. She graduated from IIUM in 1991. She specializes in Islamic Banking & Finance. She is currently the Board member of Muamalat Invest Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad and Committee member of Chartered Institute Arbitrator with accreditation in Islamic Banking & Finance. She has written several articles on Islamic Banking & Finance for various publications. She attended courses in International Trade, World Trade Programme at the Graduate Institute Geneva, Switzerland in 2014 (with specific reference on World Trade Agreements).

Registration must be accompanied with payment to guarantee your place and is on a first-come first served basis.

CPD points and Certificate of attendance will be given upon completion of the whole session to participants who have attended until the end of the event.
