Jegatheesan a/l Muthiah (PIS II) (15/07/1942 – 14/09/2000)

The late Mr Jegatheesan was born on 15th July 1942 and had his early education at Methodist Secondary School, Nebong Tebal, Seberang Prai and Methodist Secondary School, Penang. Equipped with the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate he worked as a temporary clerk at Jabatan Polis, Ibu Pejabat Polis, Jalan Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur for three years. In the year 1966 he was appointed as a Court Interpreter.

His first posting was at the Magistrate’s Court, Kluang, Johor. In 1972, he was transferred to Magistrate’s Court, Tapah, Perak and in the year 1974 was transferred to Sessions Court, Johor Bahru. Whilst serving at the Sessions Court Johor Bahru, he acted several times in the post of “Registrar”.

In the year 1978 His Highness Sultan of Johor conferred on him Pingat Ibrahim Sultan Pangkat Kedua (PIS II). In the year 1980 he was promoted to the position of a Senior Tamil Interpreter and was attached to the High Court Johor Bahru until 1985. Due to his creditable performance and a good record he was given a well deserved promotion to the post of a Bankruptcy Officer. His first posting was with the Official Assignee’s Office, Johor Bahru branch where he served until he retired on 15th July 1997. In the year 1993 he was awarded the Excellent Service award by the Department.

In 1994 the late Mr Jegatheesan obtained a law degree from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and subsequently his CLP in August 1997. He chambered with the firm of Messrs K Sila Dass & Partners and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor on 31st October 1998 and thereafter worked as a Legal Assistant with Messrs Freda Sabapathy & Co from 1 January 1999 and subsequently joined Messrs Loh & Renga on 1st October 1999. On 16th February 2000, he joined Messrs Sia Boon Peng & Co, Johor Bahru as a partner until his demise.

Mr Jegatheesan passed away at the age of 58 and leaves behind his wife, Sakunthala Thevi and 2 children.
