Circular No. 29/20: Discussion on Amendments to The Law Reform (Marriage & Divorce) Act 1976 (5 June 2020)

Please be informed that the Continuing Professional Development Sub Committee of the Johore Bar Committee and the Bar Council CPD Department are jointly organising the abovementioned Webinar.

This webinar aims to provide participants with an understanding of the amendments to the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976.

About the Speaker

Pushpa Ratnam was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1994. She served the London Magistracy as a Legal Adviser to Magistrates from 1989 to 1994. During her five years in service, she gained experience in the area of family and criminal law in the United Kingdom. This has been enhanced by her continued assistance in various local and international women’s groups and organisations. She then continued to focus in the practice area of family law. In the course of her legal practice, she has presented several papers at national forums, and has spoken at various forums organised by State Bar Committees and the Bar Council on issues relating to family law, domestic violence, and gender. She was part of the inaugural group that attended the Training of Trainers on Child Rights and has since been an active child rights trainer in Malaysia. She has been a member of the Bar Council Professional Standards and Development Committee for several years now and has done many talks, training sessions, seminars, and workshops in family law throughout Malaysia.

The course is limited to 80 participants only. Please note that this webinar will NOT be live streamed on the Johore Bar Facebook page and attendance is only possible by prior registration.

  2. Name of legal firm; and
  3. Email address of each participant.

Once you provide the Secretariat with the above details, you will receive an email with the registration link for the Webinar. Participants will also receive any slides (if any) subsequent to the Webinar by way of email.

CPD points will be given upon completion of the whole session to participants who have attended until the end of the event.
