A REMINDER ON THE JOHORE BAR FORUM ON
“ HUMAN RIGHTS, CIVIL LIBERTIES & DEMOCRACY
IN MALAYSIA TODAY ”
Monday 9th January 2012 at 7.30 p.m. at JOTIC Auditorium
1. Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan
2. Associate Professor Dr. Azmi Sharom
3. Dr. Kua Kia Soong
Moderator: Dato’ Yeo Yang Poh
I refer to the JBC Circular No. 90/11 dated 30th December 2011 regarding the above event.
This is the first major project undertaken by the Human Rights Sub-Committee of the Johore Bar and is aimed at creating greater awareness of human rights, particularly among our members.
We have taken great pains to assemble a panel of very distinguished and eminent advocates of human rights to share their views on the state of human rights in Malaysia today.
The success of this event depends on your support and participation. Although the event is only a few days away the response so far has been rather luke warm. The Auditorium has a capacity of 300 but only about 80 members have signed up to date. This is very discouraging. It does not do justice to the efforts taken by the Committee in organizing this event or to the distinguished panel of speakers who have accepted our invitation despite their busy schedule.
Perhaps the earlier circular did not reach you, or that you may have overlooked it or that you may have decided to respond later. Whatever the reason, I humbly urge all of you who have not responded yet to do so immediately. Please contact the Johore Bar Secretariat now at 07-276 3888 to confirm your attendance. Or you may fax the duly completed reply slip that was included in Circular No. 90/11 to 07-276 1188.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday. Please help to make this Forum a success.
