PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Pengarah Mahkamah Negeri Johor has issued a direction that w.e.f. 23rd July 2017, the Courts will no longer provide Chines interpreters for all civil cases and that the duty to obtain the services of Chinese interpreters from outside now falls on the Solicitors handling the matter.

We believe that this is due to an acute shortage of Chinese interpreters.

We also understand that obtaining such services from outside may not always be easy and we would be moving the Bar Council to take up the issue with the higher authorities.

In the meantime and until a solution is found, we urge all members to comply with the directive so that cases may proceed smoothly and without any interruption.
